We offer a range of personalised 'wine expert' hosted tours ex Sydney, or from within the region. As the only graduate Oenologist (or winemaker) hosting wine tours in Australia, I share my 40+ years in the wine industry, ensuring that you get to enjoy an 'insider's perspective into fine wines. As part of our personalised service I will tailor the experience to suit any wine lover - from the beginner through to the connoisseur. So, please visit our website & let us help you decide which of our tours is best for you. Our small group tour service departs from the CBD of Sydney at about 7:30 a.m. in a spacious & comfortable 13 guest seat midi-coach. Pickup from within the vineyards is at 10 a.m. The Hunter Valley Wine Country is a leisurely 190 kms drive north of Sydney through the picturesque Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park. I personally conduct the tastings, not the sales staff at the wineries, as is the case with ALL wine other tours. You are therefore not exposed to the hard sell of their regular commercial wines & have access to my life long knowledge of & passion for fine Australian wines. I will host you through comprehensive private sit-down tastings of the best wines, including some cellar matured older & rarer vintages not offered to the general public. You will get to taste a wide range of about 25 wines on the day, with a particular focus on what the Hunter Valley specialises in; white grape varieties such as Semillon, Chardonnay & Verdelho, with reds such as Shiraz & Pinot Noir. I will guide you through vertical flights of the decades plus long ageing dry Semillons for which the region is world famous, as well as Shiraz reds made from some of the oldest continuous production vineyards in the world, which were planted on their own root stocks in the 1850's. I will also introduce you to some very exciting 'cool climate' grown wines from the high altitude vineyards of the Snowy Mountains; Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir & some elegant style Shiraz. So, no matter what is your current knowledge of fine Aussie wines, you will get to learn a lot on the day, in a very personal & casual atmosphere. Lunch is at either Muse Kitchen at the Keith Tulloch winery or at the Esca Restaurant at the Bimbadgen winery where their chefs showcase the finest gourmet fare of the region. Lunch is your own expense. We don't; - stop at a gas station on the highway for morning coffee - visit convict era villages on the way - visit wildlife parks on the way - stop at the retail shops selling chocolate & cheese & souvenirs - call at the mass market 'commercial' wineries - pass our guests over to the winery's sales staff ....... as we spend all of the available time on the day discovering & appreciating fine wines.
